Kate Garraway has revealed that David Beckham sent messages of encouragement to her children as her husband Derek Draper battled for his life in hospital.
The former footballer reached out to the Good Morning Britain host over Instagram as news of his awful fight with coronavirus symptoms emerged last year, reports the Mirror.
Kate, 53, was unable to keep her eye out on social media at the time of Derek’s health crisis. Excited children Darcey and Billy were able to spot the message from the midfield maestro.
David then reassured the pair with a series of personalised messages as Derek continued his battle.

Details of the kindhearted ex-footballer’s gesture emerged in Kate's new book, Kate Garraway: The Power of Hope, which is being serialised by the Mail on Sunday.
She wrote: “I hadn’t had the chance to look at social media so it was Darcey and Billy who spotted it and squealed with delight.
"I messaged him back, thanking him and saying the kids were thrilled.
"He sent a personal video to each of them – words of encouragement and fun. He said he’d been thinking of his own kids and how they might feel."
David shares four children with his wife Victoria Beckham, sons Brooklyn, 22, Romeo, 18, Cruz, 16, and their daughter Harper, 9.
After more than a year in hospital, Derek was allowed home earlier this month.
He has been taken off all machines and breathing apparatus but still receives care at home, which Kate adapted to make more accessible.
The adaptations include a downstairs wet room and a change in the functions of certain rooms including the lounge, which has become Derek's bedroom.

Speaking on GMB, Kate said it felt positive having her husband home for "little moments of reaction”.
She even revealed that after spending the majority of the last year unresponsive that Derek, 53, paid her a compliment.
She said: "He actually said something the other day. I walked in the other morning before I went to go to Smooth, I said, 'I’m off to Smooth [Radio] now', and he said, 'New dress'. Which was just amazing."
ITV released Finding Derek last month, a documentary exploring his illness and how it impacted their two children.
