Kate Garraway has spoken about her 'hero' kids since their dad Derek Draper has returned home.
The Good Morning Britain star was speaking in an interview with Iain Dale on LBC ahead of the release of her book, The Power of Hope, on Thursday.
The book comes just over two weeks since Derek returned home from hospital after a year-long stay following a battle with coronavirus.
The 53-year-old was admitted to hospital by ambulance back in March 2020 after suffering Covid symptoms and he was soon placed into an induced coma.
The virus caused devastating effects to Derek's body and when he finally came around, he remained in a prolonged consciousness.
Speaking about her children, Kate said Darcey, 15, and 11-year-old William - are "coping extraordinarily" with their dad being back home where he is receiving around-the-clock care.
Kate explained how her children have coped over the last year "in different ways" and said it is perfectly understandable for them to feel "adrift" as well as "heartbroken" throughout all of it.
The presenter also recalled how there were moments her children would do something that "Derek would love" which made her feel conflicted.
She also said that they have been "amazing" throughout but is aware she is being "mum and dad" even though "dad is home now."
"But it's a different dad at the moment," she added.

"I'm so proud of them," she said of their children. "They don't seem to go and ask him to be anything he can't be.
"They will talk to him all the time, they chatter away to him and hug him all the time now they can actually hug him."
Kate said that since their dad has returned home, Darcey and Billy have been able to make Derek smile in a "reassuring way", before explaining that her husband smiles at things that he would have found funny before he became ill.
She also agreed with Iain that her children were the "heroes" of the book.
Kate's book also details the heartbreaking messages she exchanged with her husband as he laid in hospital, telling her at one point: "This is not the last time you will see me. It isn’t."
She also described receiving a letter from a unnamed member of the Royal Family, offering the services of a Royal physician, which she described as "lovely" but "utterly surreal".
