Kate Garraway's Strictly message for Ranvir Singh moves viewers to tears

Kate Garraway left some Strictly viewers in tears on Saturday night when she surprised her Good Morning Britain colleague Ranvir Singh with a heartwarming message.

During rehearsals for her two dances this week, GMB anchor Ranvir was shown well wishes from a number of her ITV colleagues including former Strictly stars Susanna Reid and Charlotte Hawkins, as well as Piers Morgan, who told her "we need a win!"

And then after she took to the ballroom on Saturday with pro partner Giovanni Pernice for a waltz, Ranvir was stunned when host Claudia Winkleman told her there was also a message from Kate, herself a former Strictly contestant.

Kate has had a torrid year, with her husband Derek Draper still in hospital after his battle with coronavirus, but she's been avidly tuning into see Ranvir in action and told her: "You are unbelievable. You are amazing, we all know you're amazing and now the world knows you're amazing too!

"And it's just brilliant. Good luck, hope you get to the final, but whatever happens you are the absolute winner of this series."

Ranvir looked visibly moved by Kate's words and told Claudia: "We all know what she's going through so she typifies what everyone is going through this year.

"It's actually so wonderful she found time to think of me. That is her all over."

Viewers were equally emotional at Kate's video, with one tweeting: "And now I am crying at @kategarraway ’s intervention," and another reacting: "wow I was emotional after Ravir and Giovanni’s waltz and then you threw in a message from @kategarraway now I’m crying!"

A third posted: "Kate Garraway’s message to Ranvir on strictly this week, I cannottttttt" along with a series of crying emojis."
