Kate Garraway's radio stand-in and close friend Myleene Klass has given a 'sobering' update on what the GMB host is going through as her husband remains in intensive care.

Last month Kate was given the devastating blow that other half Derek Draper 'may never recover' after he's failed to regain consciouness and many of his vital organs have been attacked.

Former Labour aide was struck down by coronavirus at the end of March and has remained in ICU ever since.

Detailing how much damage has been done, Kate revealed: "the MRI showed that he has damage everywhere, holes in his heart, his liver is impacted, and his pancreas . . . well, he's now very, very diabetic which he wasn't before."

Jane Moore gives update on Kate Garraway's husband

"He's been on kidney dialysis because his kidneys stopped functioning. And his nerves and his neurology have been affected by the virus, but the impact and the damage of that, they don’t yet know.

"The fight with the virus has been won and he's still here but it's wreaked extraordinary damage on his body and we don't know if he can recover from that."

In a n emotional Father's Day post, Kate said she was NEVER giving up on him and Mylene, who is covering Kate's Smooth Radio show said she is always thinking of her and her family.

She told the Express : "There's not a day I don't sit in Kate's chair and think about what she must be going through.

"I'm always in touch making sure she is ok.... It's very, very sobering at the same time.

"Because I can sit with my family at the dinner table but not everyone can. That's a constant reminder."
