Kate Garraway says she feels as though she is starting a 'whole new chapter' with her husband Derek Draper.
After spending more than 400 days in hospital, brave Derek returned home last month and Good Morning Britain favourite Kate says there are already signs of progress.
The 53-year-old dad had been the UK's longest running in-patients for Covid-19 after falling ill in March 2020.
Kate told how the former lobbyist's fight with the virus 'wreaked havoc' on his body, and he requires full-time care at their north London home.
Kate told Times Radio that she accepts Derek probably won't be exactly the same person again but there is still real hope for the future.

"It's just a whole new chapter that we're starting on now, which is him at home and seeing how he can recover, seeing how he can recover and where he can go," Kate said.
"He is definitely still Derek. I believe he will improve.
"I think we've all been changed by what we've been through actually. The whole country has been changed by what we've been through.
"So I don't think he'll be exactly the same person again, I don't think I will be actually or any of us will be. I could drive myself mad thinking what might have been.

"I don't think you will be either. I think we've all been so affected by the pandemic generally."
She added: "I can't put blame in any direction is helpful as everyone's been trying to do their best.
"Derek got sick very early on. We have no idea how he contracted it.
"Every stage he was at was just before crucial bits of knowledge [about the virus] fell into place.
"Things could have helped if we'd got them earlier but then some techniques could have caused more harm.
"I could drive myself mad thinking what might have been," she said
.

Kate said through the turbulent times, she had learn to find hope through her children.
"At first I was tormented when I saw the children doing something lovely, thinking 'Derek is going to miss out on this'
"But then I realised you have to let the joy in. That's what he would want and that's what people around you deserve.
"You're not going to be full of happiness but joy is possible," she said.
Kate last week opened up to Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield on This Morning.

Shockingly, she says her daughter Darcey, 15, asked if she was going to take her own life when husband Derek Draper was fighting for survival.
She said: "Darcey said 'mummy are you going to kill yourself' out of the blue. She is so blunt, it sounds horrific and she will always go to the most awful thing.
"She just came out with it. I said 'my god no!' and she replied 'I just thought I had better check'.
"I told her I was so scared she thought that and she told me not to make a big thing of it!"
Phil then added: "She just wanted affirmation, it was the most brutal way of asking if you are OK?"
Kate said: "It was her way of telling me she wasn't just thinking of her dad.
"I don't think I have been very strong, I have just been supported by wonderful people."
