Kate Garraway's mum rushed to hospital with broken foot and twisted ankle

Kate Garraway thanked the NHS after her mum was rushed to the hospital with a broken foot and twisted ankle.

The Good Morning Britain presenter took to Instagram to praise the NHS when her mum took a tumble on the way to the beach.

Kate's husband, Derek Draper, has also been the UK's longest-suffering Covid patient and has been relying on the NHS for treatment.

"Just when you thought (hoped!) I hadn’t had a new reason to thank the #nhs recently cue an unfortunate tumble from my mum on the way to the beach & and a broken foot and twisted ankle," she began her caption.

"Thanks to the typically wonderful #nhs team at #bodmin hospital and particularly wonderful Ruth we managed to get her booted and safely home for further treatment."

She continued: "You were all so kind - thank you so much. And thanks to @peugeotuk (again) for lending us a car with enough room for her to keep her leg stretched out for the whole journey (although it did mean my Dad was relegated for the first time ever to the back seat , where he really enjoyed defining the expression “back seat driver”!!! )"

Fans took to her comment section to send their well wishes.

"Gosh you’ve been through so much!" one user commented. "Sending love and get well wishes to your lovely mum and positive continued healing vibes to derek xx"

One follower posted: "If anyone needs a break and some good luck it’s you Kate ! Your positive attitude throughout is amazing."

"Oh Kate!! Sending you and your family much love xxx" another fan said to Kate.

Kate and her children reunited with her family in Cornwall recently after 18 months apart due to the pandemic.

The presenter has had a terrible time during the coronavirus pandemic, as her husband Derek has spent most of the time in hospital, and she has become a full-time carer for Derek now he's back at home with the family.

"We got to see my brother aunts uncles cousins & new baby cousins! None of us have been able to get to see each other since Xmas 2019 . So much love & v emotional," she wrote on Instagram.

Kate shared a video of her children playing with their cousins as the sunset behind them.
