Kate Garraway has said her mother was taken to hospital after breaking her foot in a fall in Cornwall
The Good Morning Britain presenter, 54, wrote on Instagram that her mother was recovering at home having been fitted with a surgical boot.
The presenter, whose husband Derek Draper spent a year in hospital with Covid-19, said she fell while they were on the way to the beach.
Sharing a photo of her mother and a member of NHS staff on Instagram, she wrote: “Just when you thought (hoped!) I hadn’t had a new reason to thank the #nhs recently cue an unfortunate tumble from my mum on the way to the beach & and a broken foot and twisted ankle.
“Thanks to the typically wonderful #nhs team at #bodmin hospital and particularly wonderful Ruth we managed to get her booted and safely home for further treatment. You were all so kind – thank you so much.
“And thanks to @peugeotuk (again) for lending us a car with enough room for her to keep her leg stretched out for the whole journey (although it did mean my Dad was relegated for the first time ever to the back seat , where he really enjoyed defining the expression “back seat driver”!!!)”
Her GMB colleague Charlotte Hawkins was among those sending messages of support. She wrote: “Oh no, your poor mum! Sending love.”
Showbusiness correspondent Richard Arnold and This Morning’s Eamonn Holmes also shared messages with Garraway.
Her husband, a 53-year-old former political adviser, was in hospital for a year after being admitted with coronavirus symptoms and placed in a coma.
He has now been reunited with Garraway and their children, Darcey and Billy, at their family home.
