Kate Garraway's home hit by 'flooding nightmare' as husband Derek continues recovery from Covid

Kate Garraway's home has been hit by a 'flooding nightmare' as her husband Derek Draper continues his recovery from coronavirus.

Good Morning Britain host Kate and her family have had an incredibly tough 16 months after former political aide Derek was hospitalised after contracting Covid-19.

After his condition took a turn for the worse, Derek was put into a medically induced coma, staying in that state for months as Kate and the couple's children Billy and Darcy were unable to visit him due to lockdown restrictions.

There was so great news for the family a few months ago, when Derek was allowed to return home, although Kate has admitted on numerous occasions now that he faces a "long road ahead" with his recovery.

And, speaking on Friday's GMB, where she was joined by new presenter Pip Tomson, former I'm A Celebrity and Strictly contestant Kate said the weather had caused havoc with her house.

After colleague Alex Beresford had given the forecast for a spell of red hot weather, she explained: "My weather week has been…I have lived the weather of the week, Alex.

“Severe flooding in the storms on Monday night so woke up on Tuesday morning to find…we live on a hill - so you come in the door at one level and you go down the steps to the back garden - everything underneath completely flooded.

"Completely flooded. Total nuisance. Total nightmare.”

As co-host Charlotte Hawkins looked gutted for her, Kate then thanked relatives who'd come to the rescue, adding: "Thanks to Grandad, Derek’s dad, and Auntie Di, we have managed to clear it all out."

To matters worse it's son Billy's birthday this weekend and plans for a pool party for him have been thrown into disarray, due to the fact that the family's pool has been thrown out due to flood damage.

She has struggled to get her hands on a replacement pool for the birthday bash, even through click and collect, with the nearest being in Falkirk - 499 miles from her house.
