Kate Garraway's home hit by flooding 'nightmare'

Kate Garraway said she had a "total nightmare" this week as her home was hit by flooding.

Kate spoke about the disaster she had faced earlier in the week, as she hosted Friday's Good Morning Britain alongside Charlotte Hawkins.

As Charlotte and weather presenter Alex Beresford spoke about the hot weather forecast for the weekend Kate said she had "lived" the weather this week - reports Mirror Online.

Kate said: “My weather week has been…I have lived the weather of the week, Alex.

“Severe flooding in the storms on Monday night so woke up on Tuesday morning to find…we live on a hill - so you come in the door at one level and you go down the steps to the back garden - everything underneath completely flooded.”

Charlotte said: "Oh no."

Kate said: “Completely flooded. Total nuisance. Total nightmare.”

The mum-of-two said she had been helped to clear up the mess by family members, including her husband Derek Draper's father.

She said: "Thanks to Grandad, Derek’s dad, and Auntie Di, we have managed to clear it all out."

Kate said the family were now looking forward to the sunny weather this weekend, especially because it was her son Billy's birthday, but she did point out one small problem.

Kate said: “The only problem is that it’s Billy’s birthday tomorrow."

Charlotte said: “Oh you’ve got some good weather which is lovely then."

Kate said: “Well, that’s exactly what I thought, it’s absolutely lovely, we’ve got good weather and it’s going to be a paddling pool party.

“The only problem is in the clear-out we’ve thrown away the pool.”

Charlotte said: "Oh no."

Kate said: "I'm not joking."

Alex said: “If you need anything this weekend it is a pool."

Kate revealed she had struggled to find a replacement pool, even through click and collect, with the nearest being in Falkirk - 499 miles from her house.

She then said this was a “blatant plea” to anyone with a large paddling pool for the event as they only had a small one for Billy’s party.

Kate laughed that she would pay “quantities of cash” to replace the pool - whether it is from a shop or someone’s shed.
