Kate Garraway's GMB co-star Piers Morgan says he's 'rooting' for husband Derek

Piers Morgan has lead the stars of Good Morning Britain sending their well wishes to Kate Garraway 's husband Derek Draper as he battles coronavirus in intensive care.

The Good Morning Britain presenter, 54, revealed he's "rooting" for Derek during this difficult time after he was admitted to hospital last Monday.

Sharing a sweet snap of Kate and Derek on Instagram, Piers wrote: "Derek Draper, an old friend of mine & husband of my wonderful @gmb colleague @kategarraway is in intensive care fighting for his life from Coronavirus.

"Kate released a statement this morning saying ‘I’m afraid it remains an excruciatingly worrying time’ and added: ‘The NHS team who have been working on him have all been extraordinary and I know it’s only their professionalism, dedication and bravery that has kept Derek with us so far'."

Piers added: "She also sent her ‘love and support’ to everyone else going through this. Come on Derek, we’re all rooting for you mate."

Kate's co-star Ben Shephard also took to Instagram to pen some words of support during this difficult time by sharing Kate's statement with his 333k followers.

Posting a snap with him and Kate laughing on the GMB set, Ben wrote: "Morning all- lots of you are asking how Kate’s husband Derek is after her was admitted to hospital last week suffering with Coronavirus.

"She has sent this message for us to share, thank you all for all the amazing messages of support."

Ben went on to share a statement from Kate about her husband's latest updates.

And during this morning's GMB show, Charlotte Hawkins also extended her well wishes to Kate and her husband.

She said: "My heart goes out to her [Kate]. Sending so much love and strength at this time. And these messages continue to pour in for Kate this morning, it's really lovely - thank you to all of you getting in touch."

Charlotte continued to read some sweet messages from viewers.

She continued: "We're all thinking of her, keeping our fingers crossed - she's in our prayers."

Ben added: "They are a great team two of them. Anyone would've seen what happened when she was in the jungle and Derek asking her to marry him again when they came out."

He added: "We just desperately hope that there is some positive news soon. And as Charlotte was saying, we echo those sentiments to any of you out there experiencing what is a horrific time in your families and your friends as well. We are sending love and strength to you."

Kate has recently admitted it's an "excruciatingly worrying time" for her family.
