Kate Garraway has shared her pride as she helped her daughter Darcey settle back into university life for the start of her second year.
The 58-year-old Good Morning Britain presenter, who lost her husband Derek Draper in January 2024 after a long battle with complications from Covid-19, posted a heartfelt update on Instagram on Sunday.
She revealed she had spent the day driving 19-year-old Darcey back to campus and reflected on the milestone moment for their family.
“Another car picnic in the Vicky Volvo,” she said in a video clip. “This one much more happy and jolly and positive because I’ve got a very happy daughter duly delivered to uni.
“I’ve now got a very empty car, I can’t believe we got all the suitcases and everything in to be honest into Vicky Volvo, but we did it which is great.
“And now I’m just taking a moment for a hot brew before we head off- or I head off. It’s a big one isn’t it?

“Because you’re so proud of them, you know it’s what they want, everyone seemed fantastic where she was. But it’s also a big change and a big moment.”
She went on to send her support to other families making similar journeys: “Good luck to anyone, parents and students, who have been delivering youngsters on their new paths this weekend.
“Good luck to anyone starting something new this week, new jobs, new challenges. Let's make it a fantastic week.”
Alongside the video, Garraway captioned the post: “One daughter duly delivered to Uni. Know lots of parents and students doing the same this weekend.
“Good luck to anyone starting a new chapter this week - let's make it a good one! Happy Sunday everyone.xx #freshstarts #unilife @volvocars @volvocaruk.”
Darcey, who began her university studies last year, is the daughter of Garraway and the late Derek Draper, who died in January last year aged 56 after years of health struggles following a severe Covid infection.

Her update comes after it was revealed that Garraway’s media company lost £288,000 in 2024.
The Good Morning Britain presenter has faced a slew of money issues in recent months, including racking up between £500,000 and £800,000 of debt from caring for her late husband.
The 58-year-old was left “shocked” by a huge tax bill from Draper’s defunct psychotherapeutic company.
In January, she said she was facing “excessive, unpayable debt” as she clashed with Health Secretary Wes Streeting on GMB.
The broadcaster revealed the £16,000 monthly cost of her late husband's care was more than her ITV salary and had resulted in her racking up huge debts.
