Kate Garraway has been missing from Good Morning Britain recently, but she explained her absence in her latest update to her Instagram followers.
Kate t old her followers that she and her two children Darcey and Billy had enjoyed a holiday in Cornwall over half term, while Derek was looked after at home.
Derek has returned to the family home after over a year in hospital, but still needs round the clock care and has complex needs, after his battle with coronavirus.
Derek's family came to look after him while Kate reunited with some of her family members that she hadn't seen since 2019.
Sharing a video of the family playing together on a field beside the sea Kate said: " #paradise Thanks to the wonderful mum dad & sisters draper for coming down to be with Derek (with nurses too ofcourse) so I could take my mum dad , Darcey & Billy to Cornwall.
"And thanks so so much to @peugeotuk for lending us a car to get us there!
"We got to see my brother, aunts, uncles, cousins & new baby cousins!
"None of us have been able to get to see each other since Xmas 2019.
"So much love & v emotional - not that it made our annual football match any less competitive!!! Hope you have all had a great #halfterm xxx #specialmemories."
Kate's GMB co-star Charlotte Hawkins praised Kate's bravery in an interview with Hello magazine out this week.
Charlotte told Hello! magazine it is "lovely" working with Kate on ITV news programme Good Morning Britain.
She said: "She's always got a smile on her face and despite everything she's been through, has been so brave.
"I'm full of admiration for how strong she's been, to be able to do interviews about Covid, and people being ill.
"We're all there for her 100% and keep everything crossed that things will be OK with Derek."
