Kate Garraway reveals she will be returning to host GMB in tearful moment

Kate Garraway has revealed she will be returning to Good Morning Britain in a tearful interview live on air.

The presenter and I'm A Celebrity star announced she would be returning to the show after a spell away following her husbands battle with coronavirus.

Kate joined Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid on their last show as the duo take a break from GMB until September - and revealed Kate will be taking over from them as of Monday, July 13.

The infamous GMB duo wasted no time by throwing Kate straight back into the mix by giving her the reigns to the show and letting her introduce the local news segment of the show, leaving Kate in tears.

Kate has been missing from the Good Morning hot seat since March when her husband, Derek Draper was diagnosed with coronavirus following a phone call with resident TV doctor, Dr Hilary Jones.

The call lead to an ambulance being called for Derek which took him to hospital.

Derek went on to spend three months in ICU and is still recovering in hospital.

Earlier in the show, Kate revealed Derek has taken a positive turn in his step towards recovery and made the move to return to GMB after his doctors told her she shouldn't put her life on hold:

"The problem is, is that it’s a new disease which nobody knows there is no data, so, what they can say to me is, it’s great that he’s here, it’s great that there are some flickers of hope so his lungs are starting to recover a little bit his kidneys are doing better.

"His liver’s doing better. But they don’t know how much better he can get, and there’s just nothing to compare it to."

Good Morning Britain returns every weekday from 6am.
