Kate Garraway reveals she still can't visit husband as he fights for his life

Kate Garraway has revealed she still hasn't been able to see her husband as he fights for his life in intensive care.

The Good Morning Britain host's other half, Derek Draper, has now been in hospital for nearly four months after being struck down by coronavirus.

While the former Labour aide is now free of COVID-19, several of his vital organs have been left severely damaged and he remains in a critical condition.

Kate has been keeping viewers updated on Derek's health battle throughout his stay in hospital and returned to the GMB studio on Wednesday, where she broke down as she spoke to hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid.

She revealed that she now thinks Derek can hear her and their children as they regularly speak to him on FaceTime but said they still haven't been able to actually visit him.

She explained: "The hospital where he is is now COVID free which is huge for them but they still have to be so careful, so we can't see him.

"I'm hoping that will change in time...it's like I can go to Primark but I can't give him a hug!

Kate will make a permanent return to Good Morning Britain next week as Piers and Susanna take an extended break for summer.
