However, on her return to the show, Kate explained she was celebrating her husband Derek Draper's birthday.

Derek was taken to hospital on March 29 after struggling to breathe, with doctors eventually putting him in an induced coma on April 5.

He remains in a minimally-conscious state following a battle with coronavirus.

Kate said: "It was Derek’s birthday on Saturday as well, which was obviously a challenging one under the circumstances.

"We managed to FaceTime him and sing happy birthday, we had a cake which we had on FaceTime.

Adil Ray remarked: "That must have been difficult for the kids?"

Kate said: "It’s very challenging, they’re doing brilliantly with it though.

"We just thought for us, we did it with Derek’s family as well, we managed to hook up technically and sing happy birthday. We just hope the love seeps through.

"In fact, thanks to Charlotte for swapping with me."
