Kate Garraway praised by GMB viewers for her brave coverage of Queen's final journey

Kate Garraway has been praised by Good Morning Britain fans for her "fantastic" coverage of the Queen's final journey.

The presenter, 55, was running the show on her own today as she talked viewers through Her Majesty's hearse being driven from Balmoral to Edinburgh ahead of her funeral on September 19.

Kate's emotional coverage was applauded by viewers, who congratulated the star on her professionalism.

Kate was joined by Royal photographer Chris Jackson and Royal commentator Emily Andrews.

When asked what she thought about the Prince William and Harry's reunion, Andrews said: "I thought it was incredible for William and Harry to come out and be so assured and to meet the public and to share in their grief, because one does have to wonder as well whether this might bring back memories of the death of their mother."

"I was wondering that, there’s potential triggering isn’t there?" Kate replied.

"The rawness of that grief for whom William said in his statement, the Queen was absolutely there with him through those darkest days.

"And so to be there thinking about her passing… I mean very very poignant moments."

Kate has had her fair share of grief after her husband Derek Draper continues to battle against long Covid.

The former spin doctor has almost died several times during his two-and-a-half year fight with the virus, and his brave fight continues.

The couple celebrated their 17-year-anniversary yesterday, but the couple's relationship is sadly far from what is was.

Coronavirus ravaged Derek's body from top to bottom, causing brain inflammation, kidney failure, damage to his liver and pancreas and his heart to stop several time.

"The very worst moment was when they said he could be locked in for ever," she told The Sunday Times.

"And I just thought, this is a horror story. I don't know if he'll ever have any kind of life again. We just don't know."

This weekend, the Daily Mirror and Sunday Mirror celebrate the life of Her Majesty the Queen with a commemorative special filled with all the key moments from Britain’s longest reigning monarch. Be sure to pick up your copy of the Daily Mirror and Sunday Mirror to get both pullouts.
