Kate Garraway mortified as ITV star walks in on her on the toilet

Kate Garraway has been left mortified after a fellow ITV star walked in on her while she was on the toilet.

The horrified mum-of-two spoke about the awkward run-in while she was presenting her Smooth Radio show.

The awkward moment came when Kate went into the studios early so she could catch up on some work ahead of her show.

She decided to have a nap while her laptop updated which led her to wake up hours later.

In her sleepy state Kate went to the loo to try and wake herself up but she forgot to lock the door and found herself face to face with Alexander Armstrong.

The toilets at Smooth Radio are also used by Classic FM staff at Global.

Kate explained: "I’ve had quite the morning! Got in super early to do some work before coming on air to do the show on Smooth and my laptop needed an update. You know those annoying updates that you can't avoid?

"I thought I'd just close my eyes for a few seconds while it does that. Next thing I know, it’s hours later.

"I get up, rushed to the loo to wake myself up. Sitting there in a sleepy state, I forgot to lock the door! Then Alexander Armstrong from Classic FM bursts in. 'Oh my god, Kate. I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry!'

"Oh it was toe-curling! I haven’t faced him yet – he’s still on air. I was so embarrassed!"

The funny moment comes after Kate was spotted with her husband Derek Draper last month out for a pub lunch.

The TV star and her husband were joined by his carer as they went on an outing where Kate's parents also joined.

Derek was diagnosed with coronavirus at the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020 and was left in a life-threatening condition.

Due to being so unwell, doctors put him in a medically induced coma and on a ventilator and he was in hospital for 13 months.

He has been seriously ill since 2020 and has been in and out of hospital since.

Kate has been keeping the public updated about Derek's condition throughout.
