Kate Garraway looked in Falkirk for paddling pool for son's birthday after house flood

Good Morning Britain co-host Kate Garraway ended up looking in Falkirk for a paddling pool after she became a victim of flooding.

Kate whose home along with others including Queen's Brian May was drenched in flash floods admitted she was having a 'nightmare' week.

Kate told co-star Charlotte Hawkins and weather presenter Alex Beresford: "My weather week has been…I have lived the weather of the week, Alex."

"Severe flooding in the storms on Monday night so woke up on Tuesday morning…we live on a hill - so you come in the door at one level and you go down the steps to the back garden - everything underneath completely flooded. Completely flooded. Total nuisance. Total nightmare.”

The mum-of-two whose husband Derek Draper is still recuperating following a severe case of Covid, which saw him hospitalised for a year, got help from her family and Derek's dad as she scrambled to save things.

She said: "Thanks to Grandad, Derek’s dad, and Auntie Di, we have managed to clear it all out."

Kate revealed though, that her son Billy is having a birthday party and she ended up throwing the paddling pool away after the flooding.

She then revealed her search for a pool had taken her to Falkirk which is 499 miles away from her home down south.

She explained: "The only problem is that it’s Billy’s birthday tomorrow."

"It’s absolutely lovely, we’ve got good weather and it’s going to be a paddling pool party. The only problem is in the clearout we’ve thrown away the pool."

As Charlotte replied: "Oh no" Kate said: "I’m not joking."

Alex added: "If you need anything this weekend it is a pool."

Kate revealed she had struggled to find a replacement pool, and click and collect, suggested the nearest was in Falkirk - 499 miles from her house.

She laughed: I've tried everywhere. The closest one I could find for click and collect online was Falkirk - 499 miles away."

In a bid to avoid the unrealistic journey she then put out a 'blatant plea' to anyone with a large paddling pool for the event as they only had a small one for Billy’s party.

Kate laughed that she would pay “quantities of cash” to replace the pool - whether it is from a shop or someone’s shed.
