Kate Garraway left without food after Derek Draper's Covid diagnosis but says Emma Willis helped

Good Morning Britain star Kate Garraway has revealed her financial struggles when husband Derek Draper was struck down by Covid-19.

Kate was left without food over Christmas when she was unable to visit a supermarket because she was isolating ahead of her planned visit to her husband Derek in hospital.

She was struggling until Voice presenter Emma Willis sent her a luxury Marks and Spencer hamper to help her over the festive period.

Kate had been unable to get a supermarket delivery slot to her family home where she was isolating with her children Billy and Darcey.

Kate told The Sunday Times magazine : “We had this extraordinary situation where we didn’t have any bread but we had canapés.

“The kids would ask, ‘What’s for breakfast?’ ‘Canapés.’ ‘Can’t we have Rice Krispies?’

It’s been an incredibly tough year for Kate’s family after her husband was hospitalised with coronavirus last March.

She’s been in “survival mode” since then, the Mirror reports.

She has renovated their home ahead of her husband’s return. It’s been fitted with ramps, she’s had the doorways widened for wheelchair access and a wet room has been installed.

Kate wanted to open up about the devastating impact coronavirus has had on her husband’s life.

She wrote on Twitter : “As we pass a year since Covid-19 changed us forever, I wanted to get closer to find out how and why it had made such a devastating impact to Derek’s life and how we move forward in this new world.”
