Kate Garraway issues painful health update as fans rush to support her

Kate Garraway has issued a painful health update in an emotional social media post.

The 54-year-old Good Morning Britain presenter announced on Instagram how she has suffered an inflamed cornea.

Kate shared a photo of the affected eye and said it can be caused by wearing contact lenses for too long.

She said: "Ouch! But thanks to the brilliant @nhs team @moorfieldsuae not permanent.

"Inflamed cornea caused probably by wearing my contacts for too long on some very long days recently. Hence the glasses on @gmb on Friday."

The broadcaster has been caring for her husband Derek as he continues his fight against long-Covid and said she nearly didn't receive medical attention for her problem.

Kate continued: "And to think I nearly didn’t get it checked out as was wanting to get back home to do some physio with Derek."

Kate issued an emotional warning to carers about the importance of looking after their own well-being.

"A further reminder if you are a carer, parent or anyone really you have to sometimes put yourself first otherwise you are no use to anyone you are trying to help."

Kate revealed she will be on her way back to a clean bill of health after putting in eyedrops every hour over the next 2 days.

Celebrity fans and followers flooded the comments to wish Kate well on her road to recovery.

Myleene Klass said: "Oh Kate. You are an absolute Trojan. Feel better soon. x"

Pop-singer Nicole Appleton added: "Feel better soon Kate."
