Kate Garraway forced to wear glasses on GMB after mystery eye injury

Kate Garraway has revealed she's been forced to wear glasses for the time being after injuring her eye.

The Good Morning Britain presenter, 53, was hosting the first half-hour of the ITV show on Thursday morning when she revealed she was struggling to read the headlines from today's papers and the autocue.

She told viewers that she is hoping to get the injury checked out after today's show.

Kate told GMB viewers watching at home: "Let's have a look at the front pages now, if that is, I can see them. If you haven't noticed [the glasses]… I've injured my eye.

"I don't know what I've done to it, but I'm going to get it checked out today."

She added: "But it means it's all a bit of lottery at the moment as to whether I can read anything."

When she was joined by her co-host Susanna Reid she was showered with compliments.

"Kate I'm absolutely loving your glasses," Susanna said.

"I've got a bit of glasses envy."

It comes after Kate recently returned to Good Morning Britain after taking a short break to attend to her husband Derek.

Derek has been in intensive care since March after catching coronavirus.

Though he has now cured of the bug it has wreaked havoc on his body, leaving him with clots in his lungs, holes in his heart and diabetes.

Doctors have told Kate he may never recover.
