Kate Garraway has thanked the "amazing saviours" who "rescued" her following a "terrifying" car accident on the motorway.
The Good Morning Britain presenter revealed she experienced a full tyre blow out which left her feeling "shaken" during the first time she had driven her children without her husband, Derek Draper.
Derek was taken to hospital on March 29 after struggling to breathe, with doctors eventually putting him in an induced coma on April 5.
In an interview on Good Morning Britain earlier this month, Kate said he was now testing negative for coronavirus and had moved from a deeper coma into a minimum state of consciousness.
Recently, Kate said that Derek was still having a "tough" time in hospital as he tries to recover from coronavirus.
Doctors have warned Kate that Derek may never fully recover after his body was ravaged by Covid-19, but he has now opened his eyes.
On Sunday, July 26, Kate shared a collage image of her badly damaged tyres alongside a photo of herself with the two police officers who came to her resuce.
Her children, Darcey, 14, and Billy, 11, were in the car when the "terrifying" ordeal took place in which she had "no choice" but to call the police.
Captioning the image, Kate said: "Thanks to our amazing saviours Liz & Mark from @kentpoliceuk who rescued me after a full tyre blow out on the motorway!!!
"Never had one before - utterly terrifying. Managed to keep control of car but couldn't get off motorway as no hard shoulder & when the AA said they couldn't come for an hour, then rang after half an hour to say might still be an hour had no choice but to call the police.
"They were so brilliant and got us to safety and we are now on way home in taxi, shaken but safe, tow truck on way to car."
Kate revealed she will still be presenting on Good Morning Britain with co-host Ben Shephard tomorrow morning, where she will detail what happened in full.
She added: "It's first time have taken kids out without Derek too, but we are safe and will update you fully on @gmb with @benshephardofficial tomorrow from 6 a.m."
Her post has been liked more than 50,000 times and thousands commented with their well wishes.
