Kate Garraway in 'torture' with home schooling as Derek remains in hospital

Kate Garraway confessed she is "really struggling" this week as she tries to deal with the "torture" of home schooling.

Good Morning Britain star Kate has been teaching her two children Darcy, 14, and Billy, 11, as their father and Kate's husband Derek Draper is still in hospital battling the after-effects of coronavirus.

Speaking on GMB today Kate said : "We have made it to Friday, a collective sign of relief to anybody who is locked into the torture of home schooling.

"First time round, I was somewhat distracted at the time, and a lot of people felt quite nice, the sun was shining, we thought, 'Great, time with the children, let's see what those teachers are doing'.

"And very quickly realised how brilliant teachers are, and this time around it's a really struggle isn't it?"

Co-host Ben Shephard agreed and said: "I think it's really hard this time because of the weather particularly, and the kids want to just get back to school and be with their friends."

Kate said : "They want to see other kids don't they, and it feels like here we go again."

Derek has been in hospital since March 2020 after getting coronavirus, and it has wreaked havoc on his body, leaving him with diabetes and holes in his lungs and heart - reports Mirror Online.

He has not been able to communicate at all except to mouth the word "pain" after regaining minimal consciousness from his medically induced coma.

Kate recently revealed she and the children were able to visit Derek over the Christmas period, and it was the first time they were able to do that.

But she said it made it even sadder seeing how different he is now since Covid affected him so horribly.

She added that she is now terrified the new lockdown will hinder his progress as he is no longer allowed any visits even from Kate alone.
