Kate Garraway has revealed her home has been hit by a flooding ‘nightmare’ this week.
The Good Morning Britain presenter fronted the show on Friday with co-star Charlotte Hawkins and discussed how she had faced a difficult week due to the flooding in the UK.
Discussing the good weather forecast for much of the UK for the coming weekend, Kate told Charlotte and weather presenter Alex Beresford that she had “lived” the weather this week.
Kate revealed: “My weather week has been…I have lived the weather of the week, Alex.”
She went on: “Severe flooding in the storms on Monday night so woke up on Tuesday morning to find…we live on a hill - so you come in the door at one level and you go down the steps to the back garden - everything underneath completely flooded.”

“Oh no,” exclaimed Charlotte.
Kate added: “Completely flooded. Total nuisance. Total nightmare.”
The mother-of-two revealed that she had been aided by close family members throughout the crisis, including husband Derek Draper's father.
“Thanks to Grandad, Derek’s dad, and Auntie Di, we have managed to clear it all out,” revealed Kate.
However, Kate says that the family have hopes for a pleasant weekend ahead as her son Billy shall be having a birthday party - but a small hitch has occurred as a result of the flooding.

“The only problem is that it’s Billy’s birthday tomorrow,” noted Kate.
“Oh you’ve got some good weather which is lovely then,” noted Charlotte.
“Well, that’s exactly what I thought,” Kate went on, “it’s absolutely lovely, we’ve got good weather and it’s going to be a paddling pool party.
“The only problem is in the clearout we’ve thrown away the pool.”
“Oh no,” responded Charlotte.
“I’m not joking,” confirmed Kate.
“If you need anything this weekend it is a pool,” said Alex.

Kate revealed she had struggled to find a replacement pool, even through click and collect, with the nearest being in Falkirk - 499 miles from her house.
She then said this was a “blatant plea” to anyone with a large paddling pool for the event as they only had a small one for Billy’s party.
Kate laughed that she would pay “quantities of cash” to replace the pool - whether it is from a shop or someone’s shed.

The ups and down have for Kate as her husband Derek continues to recover at home from his lengthy battle with Covid-19 which previously proved near-fatal after he first fell sick last year.
Derek was released from the hospital in March this year after being first diagnosed in March 2020.
In May 2021, Kate revealed that Derek still cannot really move as a result of his body being so affected by Covid-19.
