Lorraine Kelly says Kate Garraway is 'going through hell' as husband Derek has been left ravaged by coronavirus.
Last month Kate was given the devastating blow that other half Derek Draper 'may never recover' after he's failed to regain consciouness and many of his vital organs have been attacked.
Former Labour aide was struck down by coronavirus at the end of March and has remained in ICU ever since.
Returning to Good Morning Britain earlier this week, a tearful Kate revealed she'd been told six times by doctors that former Labour aide Derek " might not make it," and ITV colleague Lorraine said Kate is going through "unimaginable pain."
Writing in her column for The Sun, Lorraine spoke about Kate and Derek's plans to renew their wedding vows after he proposed following her stint on I'm A Celebrity last year, writing: "This was supposed to have been her time in the sun. Instead, she has been going through hell.
“She’s watched the father of her children and the man she loves being attacked and ravaged by this vicious disease.
“Her hopes have been raised and dashed but throughout it all, Kate has never given up on Derek.”
Lorraine added: "At times it has been a lonely, miserable, tough voyage through uncharted waters. But Kate steered a stoic and steady course throughout."
Kate revealed that she will make a full return to GMB from Monday as co-hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid take an extended break from the show for summer.
