Kate Garraway given hope by fan whose husband made 'miracle' recovery after 7 weeks in ICU

Kate Garraway has thanked a fan for giving her hope by sharing the story of her husband's "miracle" recovery after seven weeks in intensive care.

The Good Morning Britain star's partner Derek Draper, 52, has been in ICU battling coronavirus for the last month as Kate isolates at home with their children.

Kate, 53, took part in the clap for carers this week to show her support for the NHS, and received a sweet message from one of her followers who shared her own story of Covid-19.

The fan revealed her husband spent seven weeks battling the virus in ICU, but went on to make a recovery and is now recuperating at home.

In a comment on Kate's Instagram page, the woman wrote: "Keep the faith Kate. We have my husband back after a 7 week fight in ITU miricles do happen."

Kate then replied: "So happy to hear that - much love."

Another fan told the TV star: "You are amazing Kate, you are one of the strongest women ever!

"I saw on the news there was an 85 year old man who had been in intensive care for 49 days and he went home this week!"

Kate replied with a heart emoji.

In her latest update this week, Kate revealed Derek is "fighting so hard" in his battle against coronavirus.

Derek was rushed to hospital on March 30 and has been has been on a ventilator for the past month in intensive care.

She explained he's still very ill, but thanked the NHS team for taking such good care of him.

Kate wrote: "Derek is still with us, fighting so hard to beat this virus & everyday I am awestruck by how hard every member of the nhs team is fighting to turn things around & bring him ( & so many others) home to their loved ones.

"You are amazing - thank you thank you Sending love to you all in these terrible times #staypositive #hope #standtogether."
