Kate Garraway 'floored' and reduced to tears by Sam Ryder's performance on Good Morning Britain

A live performance from Sam Ryder on ITV's Good Morning Britain left presenter Kate Garraway in tears. She said she'd been 'floored' as the singer gave a rendition of Fought and Lost, a new song that features Brian May.

As reported by Birmingham Live, she said: "Oh my god. That has floored me. The lyrics and that voice. Sam, you've finished me off."

Earlier this week, Kate's husband Derek Draper was at Windsor Castle to see her made an MBE by the Prince of Wales. The Good Morning Britain presenter was recognised in the 2022 New Year Honours for her services to broadcasting, journalism and charity, and received the award from Prince William on Wednesday with Derek watching from a wheelchair nearby.

Former political advisor Derek spent 13 months in hospital, and became the longest-suffering coronavirus patient in the UK. The couple have been married for 13 years, and Kate has remained at his side every step of the way.

The presenter has documented her journey with Derek in a documentary and a book, in which she shares how the family have adapted their lives since Derek contracted Covid in March 2020.

To cater for Derek's needs, Kate has spent tens of thousands of pounds adapting the family’s London home and remains an inspiration for other families who find themselves caring for loved ones who have been affected by Covid.
