Kate Garraway fans 'worry' as presenter absent from GMB during Derek's Covid battle

Kate Garraway fans were 'concerned' for the presenter after she was absent from Thursday's instalment of Good Morning Britain.

Fans quickly flocked to social media to express concern after noticing that the 53-year-old star was in the studio.

It comes as Kate's husband Derek Draper remains in hospital after contracting Covid-19 in March.

Despite worries from fans, Kate does not actually present GMB on Thursdays and the role is usually falls to Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard.

However, some viewers still took to social media to share their thoughts.

One fan wrote: "where is the lovely kate, i hope all is well and shes ok, really miss seeing her on gmb today."

"Where's Kate, hope she is alright. How is Derek?" penned another.

Another reached out to Good Morning Britain's Twitter page to check if they had an update on Derek's condition.

They wrote: "morning all just wondering if you have an update on Derrick hope love to Kate family and friends always in our thoughts x."

A representative for Kate has declined to comment when approached by The Mirror.

Kate has bravely opened up about her family's heartache on a number of occasions after she returned to work over the summer.

Just a few days ago, the mum of two spoke about this year's 'missed moments' while her husband battled the effects of coronavirus from a hospital bed.

Derek was first admitted to hospital in late March 2020 after he had contracted Covid-19.

However, complications from the deadly virus meant that he had to be put into an induced coma in April.

Kate has also been warned on several occasions that her husband might not make it.

Despite her family's heartbreak, Kate has shown an incredible resilience and has been overwhelmed with support as they try to remain strong.

The GMB star will also be hosting the show's 1 Million Minutes Awards, as the campaign marks its fifth anniversary of urging viewers to pledge their time and volunteer to help others.
