Kate Garraway is celebrating her birthday this week and has revealed how she was left in "happy tears" following a moving message from her husband.
Derek Draper returned home last month after more than a year in hospital as a result of his battle with coronavirus.
Kate got emotional as she revealed Derek had wished her a happy birthday on Tuesday's ITV's Lorraine during an interview to talk about her book, The Power of Hope.
She told the presenter: "At the moment the family and I are looking for lots of little things with Derek. He's home, we can hug him, that's a miracle in itself."
Kate then explained how she had told Derek on Monday night that it was her birthday the following day and that he'd looked a bit worried.
She continued: "Last night I said to him 'oh it's my birthday tomorrow' and he looked a bit worried and I said 'don't worry, I'm not expecting anything, my birthday present is you being home and I'm going to pop in and see you before I go early.'
"I came in this morning and said 'I'm off to Lorraine now, is there anything you want to say to me?' and he said 'oh happy birthday.'"
Getting emotional, a tearful Kate then turned away from Lorraine.
"It's happy tears," Kate said, before adding: "I won't look at you for a minute."
Lorraine continues weekdays at 9am on ITV.
