Kate Garraway said bringing her husband Derek Draper home was like being left with a newborn baby for the first time.
Derek returned home last week after being in hospital for a year following his battle with coronavirus.
Today Kate spoke about how the family had coped on Good Morning Britain.
Speaking to co-host Susanna Reid, Kate said : "Derek came home Wednesday evening and it's extraordinary, you sort of feel over the moon and overwhelmed in equal measure, it is quite an overwhelming responsibility.
"I remember that day when you first brought home your firstborn and you've been planning for nine months and then you get home and think what the heck do we do now, it's a little bit like that feeling, it's half four and you've still got your pyjamas on.
"It's been completely overwhelming but also wonderful."
Susanna asked Kate how the couple's two children Darcy and Billy had found having their dad home.
Kate said: "They've been absolutely loving it and have been really helpful and it's been great actually.

"I've noticed a bit of deferring actually, they've said shall we check with dad and I was like hang on a minute, I'm still the boss.
"They're very excited and overwhelmed, we've got an alarm system and we've got support and people there to help, because I'm certainly not a doctor, so when it goes off you get that surge and that rush and Billy's like 'dad do you need me?'"
