Kate Garraway calls GMB co-host Ben Shephard 'ruthless' as he mocks her after return

Good Morning Britain hosts Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard were in hysterics on the show on Tuesday, over a mishap on air.

Ben was quick to mock his co-host and pal over something she said at the start of the show.

He proceeded to replay the moment over and over, with Dr Sarah Jarvis also taking the moment to mock her.

Kate had appeared off guard when Ben opened the show, welcoming viewers.

She later blamed Ben, after she paused before randomly saying: "Welcome...to everyone."

Ben immediately laughed at the moment in the clip, before bringing it up again later on.

As he kept playing the clip, Kate couldn't help but laugh before explaining what went wrong.

After shouting "oh no", she said: "You know why I did that, and it's all Ben's fault because we had a little chat.

"We were gonna do something and then he didn't do it so I was like, should I give him a moment? Should I help him?"

As Ben continued to tease Kate, he confessed he had wasted no time in returning to normal following her comeback to the show last week.

Just a week in, and a few episodes, Ben decided it was time to start winding her up again.

Kate has been off the show since March following her husband Derek Draper's battle with coronavirus.

She revealed she was nervous about returning to work, but heaped praise on Ben for helping her.

That all changed though, she joked, as Ben kept replaying her mumbling to viewers.

She said: "You know what, this time last week I was telling everyone how brilliant you were to work with, how lovely and generous you were as I nervously crept back to work.

"That's all gone now, it's all gone, back to ruthless and mercifully mickey-taking."

Ben quipped: "We have only given you a week haven’t we," to which she said: "Two days!"

Just as things calmed down, Dr Sarah joked: "Welcome to everyone" leaving Ben and Kate in hysterics once more.

As she apologised, Ben called the moment the "gift that keeps on giving".

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
