Kate Garraway back on Good Morning Britain on Monday for first time in nearly four months

Kate Garraway is back on Good Morning Britain tomorrow after almost four months off work while her husband was seriously ill.

Kate's husband, former political adviser Derek Draper, remains in hospital as he continues to battle coronavirus.

But the ITV presenter decided to get back to work after doctors told her to "get on" with her life, Mirror Online reports.

GMB bosses have since tweeted about her return, writing: "Kate Garraway is returning to GMB tomorrow! We can't wait."

Kate, 55, made an appearance on GMB last week to give an update on Derek's condition, and she told fans about her plan to return to work.

Speaking on the show, she explained: "I'm gonna come back. I'm afraid. I'm back on Monday if you'll have me."

The mum-of-two also joked : "I haven't got the fight to be with Piers Morgan. But I'm back with Ben Shephard."

Piers is now on his two month summer break along with Susanna Reid so Kate will be appearing with Ben instead.

Kate told viewers doctors were concerned about her after she put everything on hold to be by Derek's side as he fought for his life in hospital.

She said: "I've got to get going. I've got to get back. Everyone else is doing it and I'm no different.

"Derek would not just be saying, ‘Come back’, he’d be saying, ‘Why haven’t you done it before?'"

Derek, 52, was taken to hospital on March 29 after struggling to breathe, with doctors eventually putting him in an induced coma on April 5.

Earlier this month, he moved from a deeper coma into a minimum state of consciousness - but is still in critical condition.
