Kate said she had found online learning "incredibly difficult" and felt like she had "failed" her children.
She said: "It's been almost impossible for youngsters to deal with hasn't it, an absolute struggle.
"I know I have frankly failed my children in supporting them with their home schooling.
"I know I had a very specific set of circumstances going on for the bulk of the time, but I found it very difficult to get online and to help them work their way through the system.
"It was very very challenging, so I kind of think that maybe the teachers knew that and knew the potential and were somehow trying to sort of off weigh the mental pressure they have."
Kate's husband Derek was in hospital fighting coronavirus and the complications it caused for over a year in hospital.
Derek returned home earlier this year but Kate had to have multiple adaptations made to their home and he still requires round the clock care from professionals.
