Kate Garraway admits it's a 'tough day' as she celebrates 15 year wedding anniversary

Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway has admitted it's a 'tough day' for her as she celebrates her 15-year wedding anniversary without her husband.

Her husband Derek Draper remains in hospital in a critical condition after contracting Covid-19.

He was placed in an induced coma in March to help fight off the disease.

Speaking on the show on Thursday, Kate said: "I won't be able to see him today. I kind of hoped I would but it hasn't worked out that way for the visit.

"But maybe it would be a bit strange anyway. So yeah, it's a tough day. But, he's still here. There's not a huge amount of change.

"It's very strange when I haven't seen you for ages [Susanne], and Adil I haven't seen you for a couple of weeks either, and so much happens in that couple of weeks, there's so many sort of seeming positives and plungings but actually when I see people again, it's just the same.

"But you have to think, well at least he's here with you. You have a flicker, and then you have a bad day, but you've just got to keep going really."

Kate recently gave an update on Derek's condition, and explained the emotional toll it was having on her and her family.

She told You Magazine: “We hope and believe he will come out of it, but we just don’t know,” the 53-year-old said.

“The heart of the family has been ripped out and we don’t know if we will ever get it back.”

Good Morning Britain continues weekdays on ITV at 6am.
