Kate Fleming's death 'confirmed' by Line of Duty star killed off after 3 series

Line of Duty could be in for a huge twist as DS Kate Fleming's death has been 'confirmed' by a former character in the series.

Fans of the BBC1 drama were left stunned on Sunday night after not knowing whether Kate was alive or dead, as Vicky McClure's character was lured to a lorry park by her boss Jo Davidson and ended up in a stand-off with OCG member PC Ryan Pilkington.

The intense scene teased the death of AC-12's Kate, who has been in the show from the very beginning.

Vicky, who plays fan-favourite character Kate, appears to have hinted at Kate's exit from the show as she joined former Matthew 'Dot' Cottan actor Craig Parkinson to discuss the intense shootout.

Speaking on his Obsessed With… Line of Duty podcast, Vicky seemingly confirmed Kate's death, but hinted her character could be killed off the show, similarly to Dot's.

"I have put my chips on poor old Steve, up until this week… And as we know as actors, nobody is safe," Craig said.

He asked: "When you started reading the script, how did you feel, how did Vicky feel when you were turning the page?"

Vicky told him: "Well listen, every episode of Line of Duty history is terrifying and Jed (Mercurio) is always there to serve the story – it is exactly what happened with Dot.

"Dot's time came when it was right to serve the story and that is what Jed will always do.

"I don't want to put everything out there but Jed serves the story."

The actress doesn't make reference to her character's dramatic shootout with Ryan, but she does discuss Dot's death after three series.

Dot had joined AC-12 but Kate rumbled him as a bent copper and the mysterious 'Caddy', who had been recruited by paedo OCG leader Tommy Hunter to infiltrate the police and keep an eye on investigations into organised crime.

Is Kate trying to tell fans her character could be killed off the show, while revealing a major clue to finding out who H is?

Following last night's dramatic scenes, fans believe they may have cracked the latest cliffhanger thanks to a previous trailer for the show.

As the screen faded to darkness and gunshots were heard, fans were left to gasp at who had been shot.

But, playing detective themselves, many fans believe Kate's time on the force isn't over just yet.

One fan raced to Twitter to comment: "Screen grab from #Lineofduty session 6 @BBC trailer. #katefleming looks p***ed, #jodavidson has her hands in the air. THIS SCENE HASN'T OCCURRED YET. #katefleming lives for at least 1 more episode."

Another jumped to the same conclusion and wrote: "From the glimpse of the trailer which shows Kate alive, Jo has her hands up and Ryans probably dead.

"Is Kate reaching for her gun in anger bc Jo is setting her up to look like the one who tried to kill them? #LineOfDuty."

Viewers must now wait until next Sunday's penultimate episode of the BBC1 drama to discover whether Kate has survived.
