Kate Ferdinand admitted she was "scared" to post pictures of her skin as she opened up on having melasma.
Last week, the star took to Instagram to share a gorgeous selfie showing the pigmentation on her skin, telling fans about her insecurities.
She received a lot of positive feedback from her followers, with many sharing their own experiences with pigmentation and melasma.
"Thank you so much for all of your messages on my recent post, I really didn't realise how many of you have pigmentation/melasma too!" Kate wrote on her Instagram Stories.
"Honestly, I was so scared to post this! But again, you have all shown me how sharing our insecurities and not so perfect moments can bring us together and prove social media can be a positive place at times."
Melasma is a skin condition characterized by brown or blue-grey patches or freckle-like spots.
It happens due to the overproduction of the cells that make the colour of your skin.

Last week, Kate shared the selfie which earned her heaps of praise from fans and friends.
'“Kate what’s the dark thing above your lip? “ Me without makeup," the 30-year-old wrote. "For the last few years even with SPF 50 & a hat, as soon as the sun comes out my face looks like a patchwork.
"I always feel so insecure about it & it really does get me down, I try to cover it at all costs.
"For much of my life I’ve felt like I have to try my best to be perfect, I’m fed up of having crazy unrealistic expectations all of the time."
She added: "Although I make it hard for myself sometimes. I’m trying my best to love myself as I am."
Reality star Dani Dyer, who gave birth to Santiago earlier this year, thanked Kate for the honest post.
