Kate Ferdinand had 'love hate relationship' with her body after developing curves early

Kate Ferdinand has opened up on the difficulties she faced when she developed curves at a young age.

The former TOWIE star, who recently married footballer Rio Ferdinand, said she had a "love hate relationship" with her body and worried about what other people thought.

Speaking on This Morning, she told host Holly Willoughby: "I think it controlled me, I got really anxious, I felt overwhelmed and it took over my life.

"Now I realise my body doesn't define me."

Known for flaunting her incredible figure and impossibly tiny waist on her Instagram , Kate said it's down to her genes.

"I'm blessed with a small waist, that's in my genes," she said.

"I do work hard, I'm proud of my body. We have a lock on the treat cupboard. Rio has the key at the moment. It means more when we have a treat now."

Kate, 29, has recently released a diet and fitness book after she embarked on a healthy new lifestyle.

In the book, called Fitter, Happier, Healthier: The Ultimate 4 Week Body Transformation Plan, Kate revealed her secret trick to beat sugar cravings: "There are often naughty snacks in the house for the kids but I keep them in a high cupboard out of reach of both the kids and me...

"If I have a sweet craving, I've got to get out a pair of mini steps and climb up to get them down.

"As soon as I go to get the steps I think "Why am I doing this?" and it stops me".

When she married Rio, Kate became stepmum to Lorenz, 13, and Tate, 11, and Tia, eight, whose mother died in 2015.

Holly asked Kate if the newlyweds were considering having babies.

Kate replied: 'Were just enjoying being married, but maybe! In one of their speeches, the kids asked: 'When's the baby coming?'

She also opened up about her stunning wedding in Turkey last September.

She said: "It was so special, we've been through so much.

"To get to that moment, that's all we could have dreamed of. The kids' speeches… everyone was in tears. It was such a touching moment."
