Kate Beckinsale pays tribute to Nottingham dad with picture of Beeston mural

Hollywood actress Kate Beckinsale has remembered her dad on the anniversary of his death with a picture of Beeston's street art.

Richard Beckinsale died suddenly at 31 after suffering from a heart attack.

The Carlton-born actor first performed as a folk singer while studying in Nottingham and later starred on Coronation Street as a young police constable.

Growing up in Woodland Grove, Chilwell, his talent was first spotted at Alderman White Secondary Modern School and later honed at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts.

He later starred in BBC sitcom Porridge.

In a post on Instagram, Kate wrote: "March 19th,1979. And we were never the same again. Thank you to everyone who has kept him alive in our hearts and on our lips.

"And love to everyone missing a shining, special person of their own. I wish I was with my mum today."

She posted pictures of a plaque with her dad's name on it reading 'Rickard Beckinsdale, attended College House Junior School, lived in Woodland Grove, Chilwell."

She also posted a picture of Beeston's mural of her late father.
