Kate Beckinsale hits back at internet troll after receiving upsetting message while in hospital

Kate Beckinsale responded to a malicious internet troll who falsely claimed her cherished dog would die while she faces an undisclosed health issue.

While in hospital for undisclosed reasons, the 50-year-old actress has been visited by her beloved pet dog, Myf, and cat, Willow.

After she posted a snap with her Pomeranian, Beckinsale received a message on Instagram which read: “Her cat is dead so I guess this dog will do”.

The first DM was quickly followed up by: “Omg. I didn't mean to send that to you. ignore.”

Sharing a screenshot of the DM, she responded on her Instagram Story: “Both my dads are dead so I guess my mum will do, you could also say.

“If you really meant for me not to see this you could have deleted it. You chose not to.

“You wanted me to feel pain. I already do, in many ways. Don't feel you need to message me again. Please.”

The actress has been under increasing strain in recent months, including grieving the death of her stepfather Roy Battersby in January after suffering “a massive stroke” while battling two forms of cancer.

Her biological father, Richard Beckinsale, passed away in 1979 at the age of 31 from a heart attack.

While Beckinsale has not disclosed the reason for her hospitalisation, a source claimed to ET on Wednesday that she “hasn't been doing or feeling well” but is “doing her best to take care of herself.”

She has also been caring for her mother Judy Loe, who has been experiencing significant health issues.

Beckinsale expressed her gratitude to her mum for her unwavering support in a joint Mother’s Day and birthday post shared earlier in the week.

The post included a video of Loe celebrating with champagne and tucking into cake alongside several selfies.

She also shared two pictures of herself in a hospital bed, wearing a black headband adorned with a bow.

In her caption, the Brit born A-lister wished her mother a happy birthday and Mother’s Day, before describing how Loe has supported her throughout the last week.

She penned: “Thank you to those that love us and support us when it’s s*** and try to make sure there are some bits that aren’t.

“And for looking after our dogs when we can’t, and lead us to remember happy things when we can’t. And turn up when we are sick and sit with us... And send balloons and check in and pull us out of wells with love.”

After she noted that her “mother’s capacity for joy” was “so inspiring and beautiful,” she once again celebrated Loe in her caption.

She shared: “Happy everything mama. Your fight for joy despite also welcoming tears is the experience of watching a warrior up close. I love you.”
