Kate Beckinsale hates dating and 'would rather die' than use an app to find love

Actress Kate Beckinsale says she hates dating – and would “rather die” than find love via an app.

The 48-year-old even joked that, knowing her luck, she would end up being paired with a serial killer.

Kate hasn’t enjoyed a serious relationship since splitting from her husband Len Wiseman in 2015.

She briefly dated US comic Pete Davidson, 27, but found it stressful because of the attention on them.

When asked about her last date, Under-world star Kate said: “It’s been over a year. But I’ve only dated three people since I divorced and separated eight or nine years ago.

“I am not very prolific. I have also learned that I am very bad at picking.”

Of dating apps, she laughed: “I would rather die. Also that is saying to me, ‘Oh hello, serial killer. Come and get me!’ That would be my luck. It would be, ‘He is cute’... then ‘It is f****** Ted Bundy’.

“I have been on a handful of dates when I was growing up and I cannot think of anything I hate more – sitting on a date with somebody who I don’t know if I am into and having to watch them eat a whole dinner, and having to get out of it. It makes me sweaty.

“I think people are so brave and cool that they can do that. I am too socially freaked out by that.”

Kate, the daughter of Porridge star Richard Beckinsale, reckons traditional dating is tough enough as it is.

She said: “We are sitting there, thinking, ‘Do we want to sleep together?’ What a horrifying idea. I cannot imagine anything I would hate more.”

Kate, who is often voted one of the world’s sexiest women, jokingly called herself “an acquired taste”.

She has a daughter Lily, 22, with actor Michael Sheen, 52 – her first love – and was married to Underworld director Len, 48, for 15 years.

Speaking to Sirius XM’s Howard Stern Show, Kate said: “I was with Michael when I was 21 and then I was married until I was 43.

“I had never, ever had my love life discussed. I found it so horrifying.

“Now, all I have to do is stand next to somebody I do not know and I end up on their list – so that is annoying.”

But the actress said that if she were to remarry, it would be to “somebody in their 50s who is sensible”.
