Kate Beckinsale forced to move after catfishing scam where men would turn up at her home

Kate Beckinsale has opened up about her horrendous experience of professional catfishers who would trick victims into showing up at her home.

Sharing her experience with her 5.5 million Instagram followers, Kate, 49, explained that her life was put on hold after strange men arrived on her doorstep several times a week as they were under the impression they were in a relationship with the actress.

It got so bad that the Pearl Harbour actress was forced to move house as she could no longer live in fear wondering when the next time a strange man would attempt to enter her home - fully believing that they had been talking to Kate for months on end.

While Kate and her then-boyfriend Goody Grace, 25, were left in fear over the horrific scam, the catfish victims were also left 'humiliated' when they turned up to her front door, where she would have to explain that it was someone else behind the profile and not her.

On other occasions, Kate explained that some of the victims would end up getting arrested after turning up to her home address.

The clever scammers who targeted Kate didn't stop there however, as they even created fake social media profiles for her beloved cat Clive to make it all the more believable.

Finally sharing her horror catfish story with famous friends and fans alike, Kate decided to share a video skit by comedian Jimmy Wyngarde, in which he played a deluded man convinced he had entered into a cyber relationship with Kate.

Kate captioned the clip: "Reposting this because a) @wyngarde_the_great (whom I don’t personally know) made it and it’s funny and really well done and b) can this please be the definitive answer to anyone who thinks I am messaging them or talking to them on google hangouts or asking them for money or sending pictures of my passport or driving license - or that my personal assistant is messaging them on my behalf or anything in that vein - it’s absolutely NOT me and you are being horribly taken advantage of and please report and block anyone doing this to you.

"During lockdown several men had been catfished to the degree that they flew to Los Angeles from out of state, had been given my home address and arrived on my doorstep late at night (on different nights, over a couple of week period) thinking we were in some sort of relationship.

"My boyfriend at the time and I were completely freaked out, the catfished guys were humiliated and some of them arrested, the scammers weren’t caught and I ended up ultimately having to move house.

"So long story short, if you think I’m messaging you, it’s not me. Thanks again to @wyngarde_the_great, @jacobcharmon and @guy_pearson0 for putting it so perfectly xxx".

At the time of the horrendous catfishing saga, Kate was dating Canadian singer, Goody - who was just two years older than her daughter at the time.

The couple split in October 2020 after nine months of dating, just three months after they publicly declared their love for one another.
