Kate and William spend £15k on 950ft hedge 'to block public from spotting them'

Kate and William have reportedly splashed a whopping £15,000 on a 950ft hedge to prevent the public peering into their private land.

The royals are believed to be erecting the fence to prevent tourists from knowing when they are leaving and returning to their property.

Often flying in and out of Kensington Palace by helicopter, the enormous new hedge will stop people knowing when they are departing.

Interested members of the public are often seen snapping the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in the distinctive maroon helicopter.

It is believed around 600 trees have been planted, each around 18 inches apart, reports the Express .

The plants are currently around three feet high, but are expected to grow rapidly  - eventually reaching above average head height.

The plants will cut out all views of the back of the palace where Kate and William live with their three children, George, Charlotte and Louis.

In 2017, before the Duke and Duchesses moved to Kensington Palace, a 250m wall of conifer trees was planted along the western boundary of the grounds.

The solid wall of trees was planted for similar reasons, to prevent prying eyes from peering into the royal property.

The Cambridge’s moved back into Kensington Palace in autumn 2017, due to much of the couple’s official work taking place in the capital.

More landscaping undertaken in January of this year saw a row of conifers being planted along adjacent Billionaires' Row.

It's understood that work cost an estimated £20,000.

A palace spokesman said: "From time to time adjustments are made to the landscaping and gardens, including hedging.”
