Kat Lichaj opens the doors of her new barber shop... and it comes with a bar

Businesswoman Kat Lichaj has welcomed a new addition to her business empire with a barber shop offering customers a licensed bar and Sky Sports.

Mrs Lichaj, 29, and business partner Kelly Barlow opened up The Chop 5hop by KK, in Annesley, after enjoying sustained success with KK Hair and Beauty Bar, which also offers a licensed bar.

Both ventures are based in Forest Road where Mrs Lichaj, the wife of former Forest defender Eric, says people are keen to support local businesses.

She said: "We did have men that were coming into the salon and they were always joking saying the girls had it good and there is nothing here for us. That's when we said we should do a male version.

"We have got complimentary hot drinks and soft drinks, there is a licensed bar, there is Sky Sports and wifi so if there is a bit of a wait it is quite a nice atmosphere."

The beauty bar was an extension to the Katwalk Kouture boutique, also in Forest Road, when it opened its doors in May. The boutique first opened in 2016.

Mrs Lichaj's approach to her businesses has been to create welcoming environments for customers, which has proved a winning formula so far.

She said: "With most of the things we do it is all or nothing. We have looked for what is different and what people want these days and we try to be one step ahead of it. We decided to go all out with this.

"The reviews have been really good. It is like with your children, when people say they are good it makes me really happy and it is worthwhile doing."

Mrs Lichaj now lives in Hull but regularly returns to visit her businesses.

Despite having a firm footing in the area already, she is not ready to stop expanding her portfolio just yet.

She added: "I would love to have a cocktail bar.

"You can have a drink in the salon and in the restaurant (Porterhouse by Barlows, owned by Kelly and husband Scott) they have a beer garden, but I would really love more of a cocktail bar - that is my next plan.

"I have got a little love affair with that road. It is called Forest Road so it is nostalgic and everyone is really lovely so ideally I would like to have another property on the street."
