Kasper Schmeichel sets Man City target for Leicester amid Premier League return

Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has said that catching Man City will be the Foxes’ aim over the last nine league games of the season.

Before the resumption of their fixtures, Leicester are in third place in the league and City’s win over Arsenal on Wednesday increased the gap between the two teams to seven points.

Leicester will look to close that gap to five points when they take on Watford at Vicarage Road in their first game back after suspension.

Ahead of that game, ex-City man Schmeichel has sent a warning to his former club.

“We want to finish as high as we possibly can,” he told TalkSPORT . “Liverpool are probably out of sight I would say, but City are within reach – you’ve got to aim high.

“You never know with this restart how everything is going to go for people.”

Schmeichel started his career at City, making 10 first-team appearances for the club before moving on.

He has been with Leicester since 2011 and is now convinced that the club has the right manager in Brendan Rodgers to help them to reach the same level as City and Liverpool.

“A new training ground is coming and an expansion of the stadium, it’s a club that wants to go somewhere, we have the owners that want to back us and we have the perfect manager for that,” he added.
