Kasper Schmeichel reveals what worries him about Manchester United target James Maddison

Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel admits he is worried about the weight of expectation on James Maddison amid interest from Manchester United.

Maddison is a target for United ahead of the summer transfer window as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to strengthen his side with midfield reinforcement.

The 23-year-old has been a star performer for Leicester this season with his performances earning him a first call-up to the senior England side.

United sources have told the MEN 23 is the perfect age to recruit a player and Maddison turned that age last November. United are further emboldened by the fact Maddison is a boyhood United fan and close with former club colleague and current captain Harry Maguire.

Leicester teammate Schmeichel believes Maddison has what it takes to become one of the best players in the world, but does worry about the incredible scrutiny on his actions.

"He can be whatever he wants to be," Schmeichel told That Peter Crouch Podcast.

"Sometimes I worry for him – being English, playing for England. It brings a different level of expectation and scrutiny.

"His ability is ridiculous. He’s got everything in his locker – the sky’s the limit for him."
