Kash Ali apologises to David Price for biting heavyweight rival

Kash Ali has issued a grovelling apology for biting heavyweight opponent David Price.

Ali was disqualified for his disgraceful actions in Liverpool last Saturday night, which has led to his boxing licence being suspended by the British Boxing Board of Control, pending a hearing.

He is likely to be banned and has also had his £20,000 purse witheld.

The 27-year-old had appeared to be edging his way back into the contest when the pair fell to the canvas in the fifth round, after which Price complained of the bite, with a welt evident on the left side of his stomach.

Ali took to social media to issue a statement, which read: "I would like to apologise for my unacceptable behaviour in my fight against David Price.

"I am sorry to all boxing fans, to my team, my family, the British Boxing Board, David Price, his team, and his family.

"I am hugely embarrassed for my actions and the way the whole fight unfolded.

"The occasion got the better of me and those who know me, including David, can testify that my behaviour on Saturday during the fight was not a true reflection of who I am."

Ali also revealed he has spoken to Price and praised the giant Liverpudlian.

He continued: "I have had a conversation with David Price. I really appreciate the way he has shown great dignity in how he has dealt with the matter and has graciously accepted my apology.

"I admit that it was embarrassing for me, but I learned that nobody appreciates such poor behaviour."

Price revealed Ali initially asked for a rematch after the scrapped bout, something the Liverpudlian isn't even considering.

“I am here to box and I don’t want to get in the ring with an animal like that ever again. When somebody mistakes niceness for softness they are going to pay for it because that is what brings out the worst in me.

"He said he wanted a rematch, but I don’t want to share a ring with an animal like that again. The main thing is that I move forward. I will take any win, and now we move on.”
