Kasey Palmer sparks reaction as youngsters dazzle in Nigel Pearson's first Bristol City training

The Nigel Pearson era is underway at Bristol City.

After being appointed on Monday by the Robins, the new City manager watched on as his new side won 3-1 away from home against Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium on Tuesday night.

He then faced the media for the first time on Wednesday and set out his short and long-term ambitions at City, having been appointed on an initial deal until the end of the season.

And Pearson has been busy on the training ground too ahead of Bristol City's clash with Swansea City this weekend, as the Robins look to try and make it two wins in a row in the Championship.

City have published a video of Pearson's first training session at Failand as he gets to work and learn more about his players.

And we take a look below at what we spotted in training ahead of the trip to the Liberty Stadium.

In a video posted by the club, Pearson can be seen overseeing the training as the coaching staff lead exercises and put the players through their paces.

Early on in the video, the players are seen showing off some skills as they attempt to keep the ball in the air, with Steven Sessegnon, Owura Edwards, Han-Noah Messengo, Jack Hunt and Kasey Palmer among those involved.

But Tyreeq Bakinson are Edwards are the unfortunate players to receive flicks to the ears from their team-mates, with laughter and cries of anguish in equal measure as the duo are handed out punishments for their parts in the breakdown of the exercise.

One particular flick from Palmer on Edwards leads to a loud reaction from his team-mates as Pearson watches on, with the 24-year-old, who was on loan at this weekend's opponents Swansea City earlier this season, quickly returning to give his younger team-mate a hug.

The club's head of fitness and conditioning, Patrick Orme, then leads the players through several warm-up drills as Pearson gets to grips with his new surroundings as an interested spectator.

As the session goes on, Pearson is seen in dialogue with assistants Paul Simpson and Keith Downing and offering words of encouragement to his players, including Palmer.

Pearson looks to be impressed as the City players go through some passing drills and attack vs defence exercises, with Messengo and Zak Bell among those on target.

Pearson was often stood on the sidelines with folded arms in the video as he took on a watching brief, but he is also seen getting involved in discussion with some of the City players and delivering advice for some of the younger players.

The new boss is also seen standing on the sidelines as some of the club's younger stars trained, no doubt keeping an eye on who could perhaps make the step up as he looks to get to know his players.
