The annual Kaset Fair returns this year at Kasetsart University's Bang Khen campus and will take place from Friday until Feb 2. The largest and the longest-established agricultural event was organised by the university to promote farm produce, farm-related products and celebrate National Farmer's Day on Feb 2.

The theme this year is agricultural innovation and the go-green concept. It will showcase almost 100 types of innovation. Some highlights include noodles made of flour of kluay namwa (Musa acuminata), one of the popular cultivated banana species; mushroom balls for a vegan diet; spirulina yoghurt and a mini rice-milling machine for home use.

For the go-green concept, the organiser has a policy for vendors to stop using styrofoam food containers and replace them with environmental-friendly products. It also asks shoppers to help reduce waste by eliminating single-use plastic items such as straws, plastic cups and bags.

Those who will visit the fair are asked to bring their own cotton bags and water bottles. The university will prepare water coolers for people to refill water. The fair will also have separate garbage bins for recyclable items.

The fair will house more than 1,000 outlets that will be categorised into 12 zones, including a floating market, consumer products, pets, DIY products, plants and tools, and a KU farm that will introduce research products of the university.

There will be free and paid workshops on such topics as how to make a basket from reusable products like plastic bottles, indigo dyeing, and making Chinese steamed pork buns. Staged performances will be hosted, as well as several contests to find out the best fruit species, the best Siamese fighting fish and the best orchid.

To make it easier for those who want to explore the fair, KU has launched the Inside KU app for both iOS and Android users. The app features an interactive map of the fair and details of shopping outlets, which you can search by type of products or name of vendor and detail of workshop and contest.

Kaset Fair will be open from 9am-10pm.
