Kartrider launched back in 2004 and has been a massively popular racing franchise with over 300 million PC players that is about to make its debut to the western audience. The game Kartrider: Drift is going to be free to play a competitive multiplayer game.
The game is going to be available on PC and Xbox with crossplay so you can play with friends on either platform
A recent closed beta test introduced another character to the roster so you can now play as Doa, Brodi, Bazzi and the newly added Diz. Each character has customisable options so you can customise them to your preferences.
Characters have no stats and are for cosmetic purposes only so players will be able to focus on fun and enjoy the skins and customisable options.
Karts do have some minor stat changes and will change the racing style you adopt. Some karts even have perk benefits for the Item mode so keep an eye on what kart you use in the different modes.
The latest mode added is Racing School and this is their version of the tutorial and where to hone your driving skills. The game does have a unique style and feel to it and is a stark contrast to many racing games you would have played before so this mode helped ease me in and allowed me to learn the ropes.
Next up is Item mode and most people would be used to this due to the traditional Mario kart games and the similarities to the item mode there. The items are very different but can cause some great moments when playing with friends.
Speed mode and Timed mode are more of your typical straight-up racing modes no items to ruin your perfect race. Speed mode you will fill up the booster gauge and then Players will experience a realistic drift when the speed increases. Timed Mode allows you to perfect your racing whilst trying to beat your times on the tracks.
