Kartik Sharma hundred leads Rajasthan to 7-wicket win over Saurashtra in Vinoo Mankad Trophy

JAIPUR: Kartik Sharma smashed yet another hundred to lead Rajasthan to a comfortable 7-wicket victory against Saurashtra in the Vinoo Mankad U-19 One-Day Trophy Group B match at the Airforce Complex ground, Palam in New Delhi on Saturday.

Rajasthan skipper Kartik struck 112 to steer his side to win with nearly eight overs to spare. Kartik, who had hammered an unbeaten 225 in the previous outing against Arunachal Pradesh to help his team piled up a huge score of 499/6, continued from where he had left on Thursday.

Karik’s 112 came off 104 balls studded with 11 boundaries and five sixes. He was involved in a big 177-run partnership with Parth Yadav (66: 113 b, 5x4) after both the openers got out cheaply. All-rounder Toshit Bhatia remained undefeated on 16.

With 112, Kartik has now emerged as the highest scorer in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy this season. He has compiled 492 runs in five matches including two hundreds and one fifty.

Earlier opting to bat, Saurashtra were restricted to 223 for 7 in 50 overs. They were rescued by their captain Maurya Ghoghari (58) and Marvin Javiya (46) after reeling at 129 for 7 with an unfinished partnership of 94 runs. For Rajasthan, Yash Yadav and Aabhas Shrimali scalped a couple of wickets each.

This was Rajasthan’s third win in the competition but could not qualify for the knockout phase as they lost narrowly to Mumbai and Vidarbha in the league ties.
